  3. That's a pretty decent looking coin! IHMO I would grade it somewhere around VF. The problem is, my Redbook jumps from F to XF with nothing in between. That's a jump from $45 to $160. So I can't give you a good estimation of its value. Maybe someone who has more experience with this series could assist you.

I think Fine is more like it.

The details do appear to be Fine, however this coin is damaged. Those are some nasty scratches and would most likely cause it to be body bagged.
I would say the $28 written on the flip is accurate.

OK I put $28 on there i did a little research but figured I'd ask someone that knows a little more

What's going on right here? I am not an error collector. Is this a cracked planchet, die break, or PMD?

I'm not sure that's how it was when I got it

That appears to be a lamination, the planchet split some in the striking and should not detract from the grade.

    VG8 Very Good

    - Motto stands out clearly. Rims worn slightly but even. Part of shield lines visible.
    F12 Fine
    - Half of each olive leaf is smooth.
    EF40 Extremely Fine
    - Leaf tips show slight wear. Cross over shield slightly worn.

I would guess it is VG 10 almost Fine 12 but it lacks the lines in the shield and because it is a "type coin" being one "with rays" I think it is nice enough to just get a grey sheet price of bid at fine 12. I don't have a grey sheet but these don't grow on trees and it is a good coin to own.

Yes I agree lamination error but need a shot of date as 1866 has a double date varieties may add a few dollars more to a VG coin.

I knew about the double date looked at it with magnifying glass didn't see nothing I'll still get you a good shot of it let someone with a trained eye look at it

Your image is not very good but from what I can see it may be a repunched date can you see any thing above the last 6?

No I don't see nothing but the last 6 looks closed up while the first one is opened at the top idk if that means anything
