Just found a $5 dollar indian head, can someone recommend a type and size of capsule to keep it in? Thanks
Thank you, Should I submit it for grading to know what I have? Why the mylar versus a capsule? Thanks again.
I suggested the 2x2 because Kointain and Airtite capsules can be commonly found for nickels, which are 21.2mm in diameter, but not always for half eagles, which are 21.6mm in diameter. Therefore, if you had to choose a larger size Kointain or Airtite you may be stuck with the quarter size, which is 24.3 mm in diameter and the coin would bang around pretty darn well inside the holder. However, using a 2x2 the coin should fit fairly snugly between the mylar windows. If possible, I would suggest you bring it to a local dealer first to see if anything screams non-genuine or altered in their eyes.
Thanks a lot for your help Tom. I will do that. I live in Spain and my mother had this coin in her jewelry box and looks like it is in great shape. Not sure how she ended up with it. Will post a picture soon to share.
Well, my mother is The one that got me into collecting, she has about 4 lbs of Silver 5 pesetas she got from grandparents and other world coins (circulated) she has been picking up as a hobby, but she has never read or studied about coins or collecting, so now I am trying to expand by adding Silver eagles and The like, I just thought it would be nice to put everything together (Silver coins in newspaper rolls?). She didn't even know what a indian head is nor that it was a coin. She Also has another gold coin or token similar to a tudor gold coin, but it is not hammered so cant be that old, has writting in latín and one side has a man and a woman facing left and a ship on The other side, i can make up 1492 in Román numbers. Going back to your comment, I guess I just wanted each coin in capsules to organize.
