The obverse pattern trail for current 500 pesos. It is common for Santiago mint to strike the large S mintmark with X 1743 (opening year of the mint) on the other side. These are hard to get.
that is super cool. I have not seen a bimetallic coin ever do that. the error collectors must be incredible jealous of you having this. fantastic find. bravo:thumb::bow::bow::bow::bow:
It is cool how the inner planchet curles up at the side. I had dock up more than what I wanted, but could not leave it. Error coins are expensive here e.g. a current circulating coin good (30%) off centre strike will cost you no less than $30, but more to the $50 mark for older coins.
1760 Nurnberg 1/2Taler (River God with Pots full of water). The coin looks better in hand than how it looks in this photo.
Beautiful 1963 Τριάντα δραχμές (Three Drachmes) commemorative 5 Kings coin. Says 'Kingdom of Greece' on the reverse, still have to translate the edge lettering.
Its a nice coin mackat:thumb:!!!! But its funny now after US Mint wasted million on edge lettering in 2006-til today. The World mint have been doing rim engraving for 100+ years!!! But know US mint knows that 1-2 Philly guard were pulling million of 1 dollar bags of Prez coins out before they got to edge lettering area. A scam to making Error to grade + sell to USA + World error collectors .
Thanks jello, I really like it. It has such a nice luster, the obverse a ton, the reverse slightly less so. I'm sorry, I don't think I quite understand what your saying about the US and edge lettering, would you mind rephrasing it? Are you saying they intentionally created error Presidential dollars?
I agree, like the " PRESIDENTIAL DOLLAR S" that people call overlapping edge lettering errors ! The mints doesn't even stamp the rims, it done from an outside company, so why would you call " OVERLAPPING " A MINT ERROR
Yes the 2006-P+D Washington Prez Dollar 1st one " God Less"" are most likely real its the next few yrs that in question?<^>????. "A night guard @ Philly mint sole bags of unfinished 2006-2008-P ??? coins and sold then as errors till about 2009. then the story hit the news.he got 15yrs in jail + a pay back $$$$$fine to. I would have to post a Coin World pg + copywriters laws maybe breaking CT rules.
I spent all day scanning some of my most favorite coins, I hope you enjoy them!: Beautiful 1964 Charlottetown Québec Silver Dollar: Beautiful 1967 Canadian Centennial Silver Dollar: Beautiful Festival of Britain 1951 Crown: Continued in next post...
Beautiful Bolivian 50 Centavo Piece (Is that a die crack or a scratch by the "5"?): Feel free to ask for the originals of any picture of mine, I'd be happy to provide them. Thanks! Ben
say hello to my new trophy coin. the NEW center of my coin collection and...my very 1st PCGS slabbed coin. I love it! :kewl: I have wanted a mint state 1 of these for so long. I got this 1 off Ebay last night.
Enjoy your new coin. :smile They have your coin imaged at PCGS. I guess the photo on the PCGS site is part of their secure plus system.
:yes:Read the link they DO not send Prez dollar to an outside vender to put the rim lettering:kewl:http://www.fleur-de-coin.com/articles/godless-dollars
Your right Jello, sorry my fault, now the us mints stamp the coins, but until they changed the rims in, I think, 2009: The Rims were done from an outside company
This Jordan ¼ Dinar is a big 34 mm diameter coin. The Chile 1 Centavo is one of my favorite designs and IMO beautiful in high grade. (I already have several of them but they are just so darn pretty). Both these coins were dollar box coins. They were fun pick-ups at the Naugatuck coin show this last weekend. The conversations we all shared at the show were much more valuable than these coins.
