I know those 20 Centavos coins are a dime a dozen, but the quality of the strike, coupled with its exceptional condition, multiplied by what I consider very appropriate "Desert Sunset" toning compelled me to keep it apart from the rest. The image doesn't do it proper justice. It exudes an indigo hue that seems both dark and light at the same time. It really is pretty in hand... I feel like Indiana Jones just lookin at it! ;)

Let me say, it never fails to amaze me when I find US coins mixed in with my "X lbs. foreign coins" bags I buy. Then you find stuff like this, that makes you sad, and angry. I put it here because of the context of its discovery, and because the whole idea of smashing an earlier date IHC, regardless of mintage figures, is indeed "foreign" to me. :(

Think I'll start a thread on coins like this......

Those early Aussie half pennies and pennies are very nice collection items, but they will shake your pocket at high end grades. I was very impressed with the Australian coinage system. Very strick on grading, more than the US. I was in a coin investment shop and some of those KM 23 pennies up to $10,000 to 35 000.

I have a lot of those that I really like too. As you said, there are hordes of these out there, but some are really unique and beautiful. I have several red unc's that have just the slightest different tone from each other. They are really beautiful.

Talking about errors. A dramatic Bi-metallic 500 pesos I got today. Not sure what you would call this.

An extreme example of what we call Spiegelei in German, i.e. a "fried egg" error. :)

Also got this one. Wrong planchet on copper nickel. This 100 pesos is normally struck as bi-metallic.
