I'm looking for some idea of what this is. It's very large, bigger than an American Eisenhower dollar, but it's fairly light and thin. I think it's bronze or some other base metal. To me it looks like a reproduction of an old coin that is intended to look old. The writing reminds me of a Middle Eastern language. Does anyone recognize it or have an educated guess?

It looks like a very poor cast fake but a fake of exactly what I don't know.

Also, ancient coins were almost never perfectly round and (to my knowledge) never had a raised rim.

Agreed looks fake, but reminds me of those Turkoman "figurative bronzes" with the big heads. Anyone else know what I'm talking about here? I will see if I can find a link or something.

It looks like some kind of magic or magician's token.

I was almost positive it was fake since it doesn't have an old look to it. The metal just doesn't look old. I don't think ancient coins were usually so big either. I am curious what it is though. It was in a group of coins I'm selling for a friend that belonged to his late father.

No, no likeness in any way to any turkomen pieces.

I think it may be just some cheaply made fantasy piece if i had to guess.

Thanks, that seems like it makes sense.
