This has to be at least the fifth time you told us about this quarter, but you've never answered when asked if it is actually silver or just a clad PR. For some strange reason, I get the feeling that someone might be making an assumption, and you know what they say about that.

Okay, first of all what is an "auntique"? I initially though you meant antique, but since you repeated it over and over, I can only assume that it is something very, very special. Care to enlighten us?

I find it very interesting that a guy who once collected coins and runs an "auntique" shop does not know the value of silver. Could it be that - if any of this is even true - he is simply being nice to a kid, not realizing that he really is superhero dealer in disguise?

Stop being sarcastic and patronizing. You know what he meant.

If the OP bought some silver for less than spot, props to him. I don't care how old he is. Frankly I can't find a place that will do that.

But I agree with bkozak33. They will not be able to continue doing this. I would educate them about what its worth. They will appreciate your honesty and I am confident they will continue to extend you good deals. But by educating them about what they are doing, you'll help them survive as a business and stick around for a while.

Buying metals at less than spot from one guy can seem like an endless profit loop, but it's not. He'll run out one day, realize what happened and feel cheated by you. Just like how many people feel cheated selling their jewelry to "gold buyers".

Educate them about their error in the interest of helping their business survive. You will earn their respect, and will likely continue to offer you great deals in the future for your honesty.

Sarcastic yes, patronizing no. Read some of the OP's posts and maybe you will know what I meant.

You may think I wasted those years playing outside with my brothers and friends but you'd be wrong. They were more valuable than any coin and I wouldn't trade that even if I could. :)

    CU= Crisp Uncirculated

You can often get CU $2 bills ( deuces) that way. They are a current denomination that BEP will produce as needed.

I don't know how you are grading these without knowing that !

Are the serial numbers supposed to impress us ?

maybe if they were RADAR notes or such they might be worth a small premium.

I tip the waitress at a Dennys breakfast with CU deuces if I happen to have some in my wallet.

My best experience with $2 bills is giving one to a valet in a Vegas casino....dude obviously thought it was a $20 and was about ready to spit shine my Reeboks !

believe it or not there are still some places out there that have a quarter or two lying around for two bucks that nobody has bothered to look at for ten years....i find them every so often but definitely not in the quantity that would make it a profitable venture....just a random coin here and there.....but mostly antique dealers way overprice and prey on newbs to coin collecting so I don't feel too bad....for every two dollar silver quarter I find ten 60 common date, messed up morgans....

Wow, lol. Your making an assumption that Im making assumptions. Assumptception. And ofcourse it is silver. For the fifth time, do I have to say its a silver proof?. And ofcourse you know exactley what I meant, when I said auntique. Whats with you guys making such a big deal over Spelling?

And the guy was a old time collector, but doesnt anymore for 20 years. Im assuming silver was less than it is now. Does this answer your question? :desk:

I applaud the hustle GAJ, that's a great goal to have and if you keep it up you will reach the goal. When I was your age I was doing the same thing, in fact I started working under the table at a baseball/coin shop when I was 12 to make a couple dollars. It's nice to see a young person taking some initiative and risk and trying to make some money, just make sure you are not putting the coins above your education.

The $2 bills are worth face value, although you could try to through them up on ebay for $4 they may sell. The local coin shop to me gets straps of $2 uncirculated bills and hands them out as change, kind of a novelty thing. I would guess the majority of $2 bills are uncirculated as they don't really circulate.

Thank you so much! I am trying my best to reach my goal, my best chance is buying cheap silver now. If I get offered 5.30+ for the quarter, ill sell it. I think my Lcs pays fairly for silver, 10 a half dollar, 2 a dime, so on. Im worried that the new store might offer less. If i get offered 2.50+ for the 2 bills, ill take it, (although I doubt it) So today is my day too see if I can get some good deals, and fulfill my goals at getting a MS65 RB Indian (graded) or Semi Key Date R, or RB MS Wheatie!

There are many reasons to exercise proper spelling and grammar, yes even on teh internets. For one, people are more likely to take you serious. Especially being so young, with the attitude that age doesn't define your intellect. Another point is that trolls will have less ammunition to hurl bricks at you from underneath their bridge.
Spelling and grammar are your friends, be nice to them.

It's going to take more than correct spelling to take this kid seriously. BTW I get way more than $8 per hour.

After the majority of your calls here, yes.

If this guy was a collector, fine, but as you said, he supposedly owns an antique shop. If I were you, I would not simply assume that I am being slick and pulling a fast one on this guy. And even if you are, do as others have suggested and enlighten him as to the present value of his metal. Things will likely work out in your favor either way.

Re-read the above and then ask.
