I think pictures are gonna be hard put to realize the true beauty of this coin, and yes I will likely be acquiring one. Are these the special issue for this year? It would seem so and in my opinion would be wise to purchase an extra on this, especially if it flops after the first year or has a low production number. We shall see tho. At any rate im sure I will own one when they are released.
Yes, let's see, the Mint releases them earlier in the year, gets its customers to think (= feel/react) exactly what you've just expressed, then as the last quarter of the year rolls around, they'll start offering the same product in other packaging, or as part of different collectible series, set or some such. This is poised for a Mint-winning repeat of 2012's ASE exploitation. The Mint is the only one lined up for a win-win in such scheming.
Until like everything else you can sell it for $100+ anywhere else after you purchase. Im actually liking the prospect of re-selling these more and more. Just imagine when they start popping up on ebay and noone has any idea what they are and by the time they do they are all but gone from the mint. Plus its march already, realistically how many are they capable of making in 8-9 months?
I don't think they will pull this stunt a second time. These will only be sold during a 1 month window, May 13 through June 13. http://mintnewsblog.com/2013/03/2013-w-enhanced-uncirculated-silver-eagle-revealed/
Thats what I thought these were, those special sets they were talking about, so hopefully these will be produced in limited quantities. Heck i might try and swing 4 out of this set, who knows though, either way it should be a key to the set (we all hope anyway)
They're going to make it so I'll buy it and stick it in the closet. It will do as well as the 2012-S special set and all future minted to order sets, which means you can break even on them.
It looks like it might be pretty nice in person, but for the $150.00+ the set will probably cost, there are many other coins I would rather spend/waste my money on.
I'm glad I clicked on the link, because at first glance, I thought it was a colorized coin. Now that it is a change in finishes, I would consider it. I would put my purchasing cap on it at $175. I would guess it will come in a nicely finished wood case besides. I don't buy in multiples, so one will do fine. I'll leave the secondary resale market for all you people who like to flip. I wouldn't mind a PR70 coin, but who knows what that may cost.
I like it. I hope mine doesn't come with a defect next to the I in Liberty as this coin shows. Very nice coin though.
Based on the recent history of 70's for new issues, it wouldn't surprise me if the aftermarket sale price jumped to $500+ very quickly. Chris
I don't like the look of reverse proofs, and I really, really don't like the look of this one, at least from photographs. That wouldn't necessarily stop me from speculating on them, though. I'm guessing no more than five years before the Mint starts doing colorized releases.
