Real or Fake 1820 Capped Bust Quarter?

    I'd appreciate your input on this coin. Looks good to me, but this is a new series for me. Sorry about the pics. These are the best I've got. Also, I'm thinking VG8. Sound about right?

    Best case scenario, I would say the coin was badly corroded and damaged. Worst case, it could be a cast fake.

    Well, it appears the coin is a cast fake. The seller was selling 5-8 of them at reasonable prices (first giveaway). I got my money back, but its still frustrating. Lesson learned, be wary of too good to be true deals, and inspect capped bust coins really well before purchasing.

    The picture isn't the best but I can't get it to match any of the known varieties for 1820.

    Ok, I appreciate it. I'm a series collector, and the capped bust varieties are a completely new series for me.
