Yes but how do they get that stat? Say you don't get it out next month but pay the 1 month's interest. Is that now part of the 85%? If so then I believe that stat a lot more as I've been told that most people re pawn the same item many times. Just think only 4 more times you can pawn it and you gave it way for free!! Detecto, if you like the road your on keep doing what you did. If you don't like that road, you better make a change.
Both can be true at the same time, '85% of all pawn loans are repaid while 75% of all items pawned end up in the brokers possession', although the average number of loans per item would have to be around 8.
Wow would that not be horrible to have pawned that same item 8 times and paid 160% of "it's value" just to give it up anyway...lol Some people still amaze me.
Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics." Mark Twain
i should have stopped reading when i saw the name of the OP was "detecto"......burned me again detecto, well played sir!
John Anthony- Forgive me for veering off topic but ... your Trillion Dollar avatar needs to be PLATINUM, please!
It's fun to hear how pawn shops work. They really can't lose on your stuff. I'll bet they get a lot of crap in there which is barely worth anything. I am always amazed at how shoddy most of the stuff in pawn shops is. I think your coins are probably the best coins they have ever pawned.
What is different then any business? Should they not all be set up to "can't lose". Or would you put up your money and time to be put in a lose situation? But I do also love to see how people and things tick. And like pretty much all loans whether from a bank or pawn shop the smart do not shop there. Loans are like slavery. Save up and use cash
I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy them, but only to a certain extent. They just last too long and get old until his next adventure.
Funny how his self-inflicted problems all seem to quickly become our problems too, as sad and unfortunate as this may be.
He is CT's version of a reality TV programme. Sort of like Honey Boo Boo, Buckwild, Hardcore Pawn all rolled into one. You gotta love him though, he keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
