Looks like an extremely worn die. Not a doubled die.
    Keep up the hunt!

Orange peel broad strike not a large Broad strike you can see some spread and the scales is the orange peel effect

I don't know where you are seeing a broadstrike. I certainly don't see one...

You can't see the spread on the rims? and distortion of the lettering?

Looks like normal rims to me and a heavily deteriorated die. Maybe I'm missing something. Let's see what other people have to say.

By No means am I a Expert but have seen MS-65 1980-1995-P+D Nickles with Details " broad strike" noted on both TPG's Ngc+Pcgs graded nickle. it hard to see but by the broad strike area is @ memorial ends to the rim.the orange peel effect is what tell ya.
I think that what Paddy 54 going by too

Agreed. I find it as a broadstrike error as well, a small one but a broadstrike is a broadstrike.

I don't think it's broadstruck. I think the thickness of the rim is partially a misaligned die and more evidence of an extremely worn die. The tops of the letters being stretched out are also from die wear.

I was thinking about that as well, but the dead-on angle for the picture is playing tricks on my eyes. I can't tell if the rim extends upwards/outwards, or if it is just worn.

There One more fact that in 1965 til E.U went to the euro what minted
Philly and Denver used planchet the World coins the US had contract to they had make coin that at time the World coins planchet got mixed in to US coin and the US nickel was 1 coin that got most of the wrong planchet.1987 was 1 year that happen a lot of the wrong planchet .

I don't know if this coin I have is anything odd or special but I came across a 84 nickel the is really polished and seems the depth around the face is exaggerated. Is this anything?

    To the OP:

Please put up a picture of another nickel on top of this one.

That will settle the broadstrike issue
