Hard to tell without seeing the surfaces in person or the severity of that crack.

I like the portrait style though.

RB: If you are in the market for an AE of Nero, this is a nice looking coin even with the flan crack. So far the price hasn't gone crazy, but I'll bet it does. Good luck if you decide to bid.

The flan crack concerns me a little, since it seems to go through the width of the coin...but maybe that keeps the price low?

    Striking portrait though IMO.

Well, for sure it aint XF ! But it's quite attractive... If the price is 'decent', good buy... But you got competition ! 22 bidders... Good luck (and keep an eye in your wallet !)

I'd stay away from that SOB. Who's to say it wont crack off in transport or even you mishandling it. Bronze Neros arent that expensive for OK grades, neither are his silvers.

I was tracking that too, but the flan crack annoys me, despite the fact it's one of the best portraits I've seen. I've learned the hard way to simply pass on coins I'm not 100% satisfied with, but each to his own.

All valid points about the flan crack. I have a few with cracks and I think it gives them some character. To be honest, though, I bought a Caracalla with a crack which arrived in two pieces. The seller refunded my money and told me to keep the coin. I suppose it's a chance if you are willing to take. It is a very nice portrait.

Yup... A good portrait indeed and nice patina... But that is one mighty flan crack (and the reverse is not that good looking either)... Would worth a bid just for the portrait, but not a fat one imo :thirst:

Its a mice coin. But for over $100, I would want to examine it in hand.

No I bowed out when the bidding got past $90 or so. Trying to stay within a reasonable coin collecting budget this month. Always a challenge, especially having just started with ancient romans, and with 20 whole days left!;)

Did you have to remind me? Twenty days (nailbite, nailbite).

I got busted by the spousal unit. No more coins for the rest of the month. Boohoo

    Well, that's very sad ...

=> yup, it's always a bad thing when the walkin' boss tightens the ol' leash ...

Ugh. I feel for you, friend. The bills are what busted me.

I'm not sure what we're saving for these days. My two boys are grown, I have no bills, and I have sufficient savings to see me through the rest of my life without lifting even my pinky finger. But, if SHE says I spend too much, I must spend too much. Her motto is: "She who must be obeyed". Married life is grand. We've been married for only 45 years this month. She says she's not certain we'll make it to 46 (only kidding).
