Here is a listing I ran across tonight. This has a very "cast" look to me. But I'll ask opinions before I say anything to the seller...http://www.ebay.com/itm/1903-S-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-Rare-Key-Date-Genuine-US-Mint-Coin-READ-BELOW-/181094911067?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2a2a190c5b
I could be wrong, but this looks fake as **** to me... I think it's genuine... Just severely mistreated...
sorry Lost Dutchman I cant agree on you on this one. It looks fake to me for alot of various reasonsm including the duct tape color on the reverse.
It looks severely mistreated indeed - sandblasted. As to it's authenticity, perhaps we should listen to the opinions of highly experienced professionals, like LostDutchman.
Hmm who to listen to an 11 year old or a coin forum moderator that owns his own coin shop and has been doing this for years? Tough choice
Not again, EDITED Why do you compare my age to someone else's? I can be just as smart as a 65 yr old man, mabye more, just depends what we learned and how much of it either one of us know.
This time, they have it right... 11 yr old versus coin dealer... I'd go with the dealer! Plus, he has a lot more years of experience than you... that's the kicker. This time is fair, just post lest sharply, like I do, as it doesn't make you look like an expert (when we aren't... yet )

Give us some real reasons that indicate a counterfeit and I am sure folks will be more apt to agree with you.
Im not tryin to insult you or your intelligence, I'm just stating the facts. For all I know you could be a junior Einstein. Not trying to offend you.
... I'm on Mats side, simply because it looks more cast then it is... This photo is overexposed, the coin is severely over-dipped (same colors as my over-dipped 1876-CC dime [real!]), along with being harshly cleaned, has tape residue... I've seen similar on a 1921... Real ofc.
it's not a matter of intelligence. it's a matter of experience. you don't need to get so defensive if someone agrees with someone else and not you. that shows a sign of immaturity. a characteristic of most 11 year olds. no one minds your input but to get flustered over someone having more experience and a much better eye when it comes to coins is silly. trust me you get a lot more people on your side in life by being nice and courteous. :thumb:
To be really honest with you, I completely understand what your saying and I have no doubt that you are an extremely educated collector, being 14 I have gone through it myself. BUT nothing compares to the experience of a seasoned expert who deals with coins on a daily basis. One day you will likely be in LostDuchman position but until that day absorbing the knowledge of others is would be extremely beneficial.
I could be wrong, but this looks fake as **** to me... Hey it's just fine if you disagree with me. I'm not trying to downplay the experience you have or to have opinion taken lightly. I have my reasons that I believe this to be genuine just mistreated. I study Chinese counterfeits and I can assure you this isn't one of them. I have also literally owned tens of thousands of Morgan dollars... probably more... I see them every day.
I'd go with real deal. My LCS has some like this that they are selling for melt value due to the condition they are in.
