I am still sort of in shock. I have been waiting since the 26th to get her back after sending her off the day after I got her from ebay. We are only two weeks removed from that winning bid on a chance lot to today back into my hand, NGC made my day. I think there are less than 20 graded higher than she is, when I read the grade on the site I made a mistake I saw ms65+FB as MS65&FB my mind failed to register the plus designation. Pictures and a trip to the security deposit box and now I have to figure out if she stays in the collection.

That looks great! I remember seeing your thread before, and I'm glad it turned out so well for you! Have you thought of sending it to CAC?

    That is amazingly gourgeous!!!!!

What does FB mean, and why is it MS 65+

FB is for full bands indicating a full, strong strike on the coin vs a weaker strike where the middle bands aren't fully separated. the plus designation is given to coins that approach the technical aspects of the next higher grade and have superior eye appeal.

I didn't see your other thread on this coin. Was it listed as a 42/41 on eBay? Or did you cherry pick it?

cherry picked less than $30 for a 1942 UNC PDS lot of three coins from a collection built in the 40's

Now that is one of the greatest cherrypicks I will see in quite a while. I'm still in awe. And the grade??? Lemme wipe some drool off my chin now...

Congrats, and that was a quick turnaround too!

get a regrade to PCGS or again NGC and if it comes back MS 66, thats a huge score, plus if it turns PCGS MS66 then crossover it to NGC

No but it can hurt your wallet and i think you should read the re submission guidelines on the PCGS website. Wait never mind i did it for you pay attention to the bold print...

The only regrade I would consider would be directly to PCGS for a cross over, but you can't specify a higher minimum grade so what is the price difference between ms65+ ngc or ms65+ pcgs, miniscule and what is the cost, 49 for membership 110 to submit the coin and another 100 for postage and for what a maybe its worth a teensy bit more if it crosses over at the same grade. I am lucky to have found the coin I don't want to get greedy or overly spendy with it.

    Fantastic looking coin.

Just for future reference, the "+" part of the grade has little to do with eye appeal. It only means that the coin almost meets the technical aspects of the next higher numerical grade. NGC says it must have "above average" eye-appeal, but NGC uses the star (★) to denote exceptional eye appeal.

ok then with all those fees keep it just the way it is. Good luck, and do as you wish with the coin.
