Last week I said I would be glad to trade coins rather than sell my coins. That sentiment still holds.

In light of that, one of the members here contacted me and traded two coins for one of mine. I don't know who got the better end of the deal, and truthfully it doesn't matter to me, but I like my two newest additions to my collection.

    1. Ptolemy IV AE36
OBV: Diademed head of Zeus Ammon right
REV: PTOLEMIAOU BASILEWS, eagle standing left on thunderbolt, looking back at cornucopiae under right wing
    Struck at Egypt, 221-205 AD
    46.4g, 46mm (monster of a coin)
    SNG Cop 221

This is my first and only Ptolemy

    2. Gordian III AE30
OBV: Laureate, draped & cuirassed bust right
REV: City goddess standing left between bull & lion; AN IIII in ex
Struck at Moesia Superior, Viminacuum, 242 AD
    17.2g, 30mm
    AMNG 83

P.S. My offer still stands. I will trade coins if the trade is right. Take a look at my albums here on CT. I think I have finished and they are up to date.

    I rechecked and it's a mistake. It should be 46.4g and 36mm

The only good trade is one where both parties think they got the best end of the deal. None of us agree fully on which coin is great and which is junk so this is a real possibility.

Yeah, I think it's the largest and heaviest in my collection.

You're right Doug, of course. I'm sure the other member thinks he got the better end of the deal since the coin he traded for was within his collection strategy. But I too am very pleased, so it was a good trade all around.

Really? My wife says it looks like a rusty old machine cog. Hrumph...not like she knows anything, right?

She's a Philistine! The color is great BECAUSE it looks like a rusty old machine cog.

PHILISTINE! Did you just call my wife a Philistine? Hmmm, I like that. I'm gonna go tell her she's a Philistine and you said so.

I gave up a Maximianus Invasion AE Follis. A nice well struck coin.

Nice coin, I like them both. The Ptolemy coin sure looks orangey and they're known to be quite large too.
