While looking though some change today I found what I believe to be a double die version of the Denali America the Beautiful Quarter. Attached is a photo of the obverse. The words "QUARTER DOLLAR" and the P Mint mark appear to me to be doubled. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the reverse design. Is this a common error coin? Also, is it worth getting certified?
Any chance you can get a closer shot? Right now I am thnking die deterioration doubling, but closer pictures could prove otherwise. Also, the term is doubled die, not "double" die. Just for future reference. Keep up the hunt!
That looks interesting. Please post better pics if you can. I'm kind of leaning toward die deterioration doubling, however, there is some funky raised looking stuff going on. Especially the T. It could be from where the die deteriorated so much and chips formed. Very interesting though. I would love to see closer pics. It looks like there should be something showing up under the letters. That looks like a very wide spread.
dude I found one just like this coin in a roll of quarters today. mine the quarter dollar is affected and the mint mark. but I have what seems to b doubling on " of America" too. I will post pictures of mine later.
