My main pickup bank had to cut me off. They called and told me what was going on, a branch manager 30 miles away raised a stink at a regional meeting because someone deposited some halves there. It was me but they were 01d's still in the roll. I dump most of my change in my cu but they won't take rolled so I ventured into this far off branch. Really a rookie mistake. Anyway I'm thinking of dumping all of my halves there for a while to aggravate him. He was a real dink to me. Am I being to malicious? I can still operate without him being in my rotation.

Leave him be. You never knows if he will be regional manager someday and remember you well.

Everyone who roll searches without having a business account is using the banks resources. If a person is nice about it and such, they can survive. It pays to kiss up to the personnel. I have given middle range buffaloes, and Indian head cents to the tellers, and managers at various times and especially to the vault manager. They have no problem letting me know if certain boxes come in.

Hmm, I have occasioned a scarce and perfidious wretch a time or two. You learn to ignore them an' go on. I have found that most tellers could care less about IHC's or buffalo nickels - but nobody ever turns down candy(even the ones that probably could lose a few lbs.) I even buy up stuff at banks I don't have accounts with. Even banks I do have accounts with are supposed to charge for rolled coins, somehow my bank's teller manages to forget that. I know tellers also like McDo's gift cards, hockey tickets, baseball tickets etc. The teller that sold me the wad of $5's that were all LT's SC's and early FRNs got a gift card to Babies R Us since she is expecting soon.

You wanna make the serious finds like a professional you learn to pay it forward. Rules and regulations take a backseat when goodies are involved.

Maybe play with his bank a few times. Just for the heck of it. Remember what desertgem said. It could happen.

Write the CEO or VP and the jerk regional manager of the bank and tell them your local branch is refusing to honor your deposits in the manner which you have prescribed and that you plan to spread news to everyone you know of the fact that the bank is refusing to honor it's deposits you have made with them. When you opened an account there it was never specified that you had to withdrawal in the manner they see fit when they are given ample notice and time to prepare the funds. Ask them to show you where their policy says you cannot withdrawal or deposit in whichever denomination you want. Ask them if they are refusing to honor your deposit in writing. If banks hate one thing more than anything it's a rumor going around questioning the validity and security of the deposits people have made. I imagine they won't like that very much. I think they will probably fold and give you what you want rather than having to deal with that.

Imagine if it was turned around and the bank would only give deposits back to everyone in pennies to keep people from taking money out of that bank? That is obviously unacceptable, just as them cutting you off is as well. If an American banker doesn't want to accept or give out US currency they are in the wrong business. I would push this issue as far as possible and make life equally difficult for him. I would be very suprised if there were not rules on the books covering this eventuality legally. I don't think the legal tender applies the same way as it would in a store normally here since the bank needs to honor it's debt, not you.
