1947 Belgan Congo 2 Francs

I look at hundreds of coins a day and some days there is a coin that jumps out at me... this one happened to jump out at me today so I snapped some pics. Enjoy!

I just bought a NGC slabbed 2 francs coin in MS-63 grade. awesome luster. good find for you.

 

I am still searching for a better grade of this coin. I have 2 in XF. yours is amazing. great find. envy is the word.

 

Love this. I'm studying African history in school now. Leopold II - The Free Congo State. The scramble for Africa. I'm not at 1947 yet. I'm still stuck in the late 19th c., but this is WHY I collect coins. You get to see it, feel it, reflect on it. I love it! Thanks for posting!

I didn't realize that this thread was a year old. You got me looking for the raw 2F coin at Matt's coin shop. It is probably long gone by now.

 

Gold elephants! Indeed, they are beautiful.

 

I see they made a 50 franc out of silver. That is a really nice coin!

 

I am holding out for a nice grade of this coin. high grades of this coin get pricey. also saving for it down the road in the future future. i have the 1,2,5 and just need the 50 francs to complete this elephant set.
