Price sounds about right but will let the error experts chime in. Would love to see pics of it.

It should be worth more than that if it is BU.

For what it's worth the 2013 Red Book lists off center Jefferson nickels at $12. Of course, problems with this are: this book was published in April 2012, and errors, each being unique, are difficult to give a general price and value to. Pics would help. But assuming the nickel you have is in uncirculated condition (and dramatic errors usually are, as the novelty value gets them pulled out of circulation quickly), you probably got a really good deal, especially since the date and mintmark are identifiable.

It could be you found a dealer that doesn't have a lot of error buyers (it's a very niche market) and priced it low to get rid of it, or he priced it a long time ago and just never updated it. Still, that looks like a bargain at $5. It probably would have no trouble selling at twice that or more.

  6. yea they didnt have a lot of error coins, and after i bought it the guy was talking about off center peices more and said if u have the date and mint there worth more, and i pointed out, " well this one has the date and mint right here" and he was like "oh shoot that should have been 15 dollars!" so thanks for the help and glad i got a good deal but now i have a feeling when i go back it will be a different story

Nice, 12 US is the price, but low. In Chile that coin can get 50-100 US easy.

That is awesome. The best error find for me was in a penny roll. The coin was a nickel clad penny with Roosevelt on the observe with "one dime" on the reverse
