Got hooked when the comm. program first started. Can you believe it started 30 years back. The current prices make me want to quit but i just cant.
Yes so true. I have to keep up with my commemoratives as well, so the US Mint has got me again. – This is opinion only, so please don’t stone me. This design is horrible. It reminds of the Boy Scouts coin, but this looks to me as in the same style of the USO, and the Korea commemoratives. The design looks lazy. – Imagine this: Evergreen trees in the background, a camp site setup, a fire with girls gathered around (maybe singing, roasting marshmallows, one with a guitar). This is all in the background, while a lone scout is in front placing the Girl Scout flag in to the ground. – The reverse needs to have the Girl Scout logo much smaller, with another beautiful scene. Maybe girls sewing or doing some kind of project showing teamwork in high detail. – I have seen what the US Mint is capable of, and this is almost like the engraver was like “Is this good enough boss?”. –Again, just an opinion.
I thought about it and the only reason I would is because my woman was a girl scout as a child. Other than that, I have no interest. But the collector in me would have to get both coins.
Gril Scouts? Are those the ones that end up working in the kitchen at Hooters? PS 3 boxes of Samoas and 3 of thin mints delivered yesterday (and more ordered, Darn it but little girls in uniform carrying cookies are irrisitable lol)
No the coin is totally unimpressive. I love the girl scouts cookies especially the Lemonades but the coin doesn't interest me in the least. Besides, the price is beyond crazy.
You're right about the price Fret. It is high. Back in the eighties I was priced out of owning any of the commems from the mint due to the Hunt Bros. shenanigans and the high offering price. Once silver fell you could get many of these commems for way less (in the after market) than the mint issue price. Could it happen with this coin (GS commem)? Likely, sort of, maybe, or not.......how's that for a prediction?
