That's WAY over the spot value of silver. One troy ounce = 31.1 grams. At $20 for 7.96 grams of silver, you're paying about $2.51 per gram, or $78 per ounce!

But if you like the coins, that's another matter.

It's $20 for a $20 coin... being silver is just a bonus. Find another coin for sale at face value on ANY other mint website, I dare you. :)

Is it legal tender in Canada?

Absolutely! Kinda like how the US ASE's are worth 1 dollar in trade, these coins are worth $20. If the face value was less, or if they charged sales tax, I would have thought twice about buying them.

Although technically I did pay a premium by spending 3 bucks on the shipping. :)

Three bucks is pretty good as a premium for collector coins. I think the only way you could ever get silver to circulate again would be to make the face value of the coins much higher than the value of the silver contained therein, which is what these coins do.

I've bought two of the previous ones, haven't got this one yet. I think I still may.
People in Canada have had trouble redeeming them, true. But they're still always going to be worth $20.
I kind of like having them as something small to be able to take if I have to flee to Canada some day. Not a bad way to have some foreign currency in your holdings.

Shall I be mean and rotten? Found. But that hockey coin design is a nice one. Too bad it's Canada and US only ...

It'd be quite a bit more than €10. As far as I can tell the only foreign shipping option is €29  Even shipping in France is €8!

Neat coin, though. Reminds me of this: Same weight, slightly less silver (.500 instead of .680), and just slightly larger.

You need to employ Google Chrome as you browser and the translation would be a perk. Chrome does that for you. Simply amazing, though I suspect some of the nuances are lost in translation.......:)

I bought 3 of these last year, very nice coins, but after you do the math, there very over priced...

This is part of a long-term series. Several of these coins, including the latest hockey one, can be found with die clashes, which is pretty unusual for what is typically referred to as a Canadian specimen strike.
