    Being from Charlotte, this coin makes me want to sell my entire collection to buy one and then stare at it all day. I love the mintmark on the front for that year, also found in the 1839-C $2.50, right?

    This is the only gold I have, from my father. I believe it is all worth melt only.

    Portugal 6400 Reis "Half Joe" 1738, Rio de Janiero mint

    These coins circulated in the American Thirteen Colonies and are mentioned
    in almanacs, including Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanack.

    A favorite of pirates, too.

    Yep, on gold. You're avatar is toned as well. It's quite common to find gold coins that are toned. And yes, ........... nahhhhhhhhh, fought that battle too many times already ;)

    Here a photo of one 1887 20Fracs is in my SD boxes.
    I picked up in Berlin Germany 1979.
    I think it was $110.00 Mark
    But the US dollar was a lot better then I think is was $65-75.00 US$
    !
