Nice Price, but the pictures need a little work ;)

You did do well, but all would be details coins (Corrosion and Cleaned for the first three, Cleaned for the Half Dime)

You killed four birds with one stone. You can now start your lowball 2-cent, 3-cent, and half-dime collections.

Shlok coins are always cheap because nobody wants problem stuff. You'd do better do get one nice $30 coin, IMO.

But if you like it, it is fine. Don't expect it to increase in value, EVER !

I think $10-15 is more than enough for these culls.

He's got a lowball LC collection - it's his intention. For me, more than half the fun of collecting is in the hunt, regardless of what you're hunting for. I like it - it's a bit of the collecting aesthetic of ancient coins thrown into the US arena.

No offense, but the seller got a great price. You could have done better for the money, but if you're happy, that is all that really matters. Congrats on the acquisitions.

The H10C is also damaged well beyond a cleaning.

I only see a half dime...

I forgot the scratches on the half dime.. whoops!

They have character and I like them.

The problem with coins like this is that they may have character but you get killed selling them whrn you upgrade.

A dealer might give you $1 each for the cent, and 2 cent piece

$3 for the 3 cent piece

    $5 for the half dime

    $10 total, maybe less.

It's hard for him to sell Schlok, so he doesn't even want it.

    $30 was way to much.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

I'm a fan of the half dime, though I have always liked coins dated 1853. I'm all for the quarters and halves though.

Ok back to the Point... Bought these for the $20 LC set, So even with what you just stated $20 for the large cent, $10 for the others total $30... Or in other words I didn't pay retail, I paid out "dealer price" (by your own estimate). Now I know your aware of the set I'm building, you've commented on others i have bought/posted for the set so you have at least some idea of what is being built. What "I" am seeing is some people (not just you either) being very persnicketity over what is afterall a "lowball" coin set. Obviously, this set is not to your taste or likeing so you and others keep trying to point it towards what "you" think it should be. All I can say is BACK OFF! Being critical the way you and others have been is not helping CT or coin collecting in general. Some of us like or even prefer coins that are not perfect we are COLLECTORs. We don't sell our coins so "resale value" has no point. This isn't an investment or some stupid profit scheme it is a collection for pleasure and I would ask that those of you that can't understand this simple point at least keep it in mind before making critical comments of this nature.

For one thing, there are a lot of lowball collectors, and sometimes they pay very good money for problem-free well-circulated coins. So it's impossible to say those coins have no real resale value. In fact, go over to PCGS and see just how many lowball and "everyman" collections there really are, even in as "official" a collecting arena as the registry.

Numismatics is the study of coinage not who can make the most profit on a purchase. We have another name for those folks that sell us coins, Dealer.

Who said anything about a dime? I certainly did not.

No one attacked you or said anything against your collecting goals and/or interests, sir, so why act so defensively? Opposing points of view are a fact of life and can do good things for both parties involved; I can accept your views for what they are, so why can you not do the same for me or Doug21? You imply that our supposedly critical comments do nothing to help CT and coin collecting in-general, but by so easily dismissing other opinions, what are you doing to help anyone? Just as you are welcome to collect and see things as you see fit, so are we. If anything, it is good for the uninformed membership to see that not everything fits nicely into one person’s point of view, plus even strict collectors sometimes need to sell, so it is wise to be informed on the back end too.

For what little it is worth, I like your $20 low-end set idea. It's different, interesting, and I wish you good luck with it.
