I opened a roll of the Grover Cleveland presidential dollars form the mint and one of them has a big bubble behind the presidents head. You can press on it and it moves up and down. This is kind of like when paint bubbles on your wall when moisture gets under the paint. Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this an error I should send in to slab/grade?
If so this is one way to bring in revenue without putting new coinage into circulation. I should bite into all the others to see if they are chocolate too.
It's hard to tell from your image, but it could be a lamination error. Need to see a closer and more detailed shot.
Hello JDK, I can answer any question. Unfortunately, in this case my answer is "I don't know". #1 The better image & description of the coin should be posted in the error section of CT. You will get the attention of some smart error enthusiasts in the error section. #2 Please don't press the bubble with your finger. Only hold the coin by its edge. Your finger prints & mechanical wear will only harm the coin's surface.
Thanks. I gently pressed on it with a cotton gloved hand when it first came out of the roll. I will request this be moved to the error section otherwise I will take a new pic and repost. Thanks
