Hello folks! Despite still being in the icy grip of the middle of winter, there is hope...because it is less than 2 months until opening day! In honor of the upcoming season (during which my Tigers will reign supreme ;) ) as well as logging my 1000th post on coin talk, I will be holding a contest!

    The rules:

-You must guess who my favorite baseball player was growing up. The first person to do so wins the "mystery prize" which will be a selection of coins!
-Each person can guess up to 2 players, but no more than 2. For the sake of simplicity, please guess both in the same post if possible. Any guesses above 2 will be void.
-Upon receiving the prize you must post a pic to show what you got!

    The hints:
-I am 34 which means I grew up watching baseball in the 80's and 90s.
-The player in question was never on my beloved Detroit Tigers.
-The player in question was an all-star and is in the hall of fame.

We'll see how it goes and I'll give more clues if necessary. Good luck!

Gwynn is now 0 for 2...and the Wizard, despite his defensive prowess is not the correct answer!

Great guesses, and I was a huge fan of the Expos teams of the era which included Dawson and others like Andres Galarraga. But again, not correct!

I gave a clue that the player was in the hall of fame, and it remains to be seen whether these guys will get in due to the issues surrounding their careers. It will be very interesting to see what happens...I think Bonds eventually makes it just because of the numbers. McGwire, I'm not so sure. Its kinda crummy, because out of all the guys that were jacking all those homers during that time, McGwire was the only one that probably could have hit 50-60 a year no matter what...and now who knows if he makes it to the hall...
