While opening a bank rolled pack of pennies at work today. I noticed one stood out more than the others. Attached are the pictures. Also in the roll many 1940-1950's pennies as well. Perhaps this is something of worth?

It's just plated. That's most likely a penny that went through a science experiment at a school. I remember we did that years ago.

Darn, that's a shame. I literally gasped when I saw it fall out of the roll. I had been reading about rare pennies a few weeks ago highly considered collecting but haven't a clue how to begin. Thank you for your input :]

Don't let this discourage you. Find something that you truly love and forget about value. That's the true essence of collecting.......

Not so fast. At first glance u concurred with the plating.

But I cannot tell if the reverse is damaged or if its a dime planchet. Can you get better pictures of the reverse. (The back) or get a weight on a gram scale.

Wouldn't some of the lettering (closest to the rim) be missing?

Hmm. Unfortunately I don't have a way to weigh it. But I can try to provide a better picture. Please see attached. :]

From what I'm seeing the NT of cent seems to be over the edge and that is also where it appears to be out of round. Would need better pics though
