Is this a an old well?

Do you guys think this is a well or ? I'm thinking of metal detecting it.

Metal detect what? Inside of it? Goodluck with your getting trapped in a vertical coffin goals of 2013.

 

If that is a road next to it, I suspect not, but more likely old storm drain cleanout or such.

 

Without a sense of scale kind of hard to tell. Might just be an old storm drain. But hey, go for it, maybe something interesting is in there. Just don't try climbing into it; figure out some way of getting whatever's inside of it out without going in yourself. If you can't devise any such method, I'd advise you to forget it.

 

Umm... yeah. Probably not worth the bother. It doesn't look like a well to me.

 

Got that right! It doesn't look like any well I've ever come across, most wells I've seen are not above ground and they never had a garbage can over it either. It looks like an old fire incinerator to me, stay away from it it's not worth your time. Go to your local library and see if you can find some old gathering spots, like really old bus stops or behind old movie houses. :thumb:

 

Is the well on your land? If you don't own the well, might not want to mess with it.

 

I'm sending this from inside the well. It is much larger down here. Will let you know what I find.

Yep, "young man gets stuck in a well, has to amputate his leg when a freak accident occurs." Nobody wants to read that. Stay away from that pipe.

 

I recall many stories about people getting stuck in wells, pipes, and sewers, but I can't recall a single one about anyone finding any valuables in any such places. Take that as you will.

only thing i can think of is in the part of silence of the lambs where the girl is in the hole in the basement.. and he says it puts the lotion on its skin..lol..
