I scooped up a complete Ike Dansco album this week site unseen. I was told they were uncirculated and some had some nice "toning". I didn't expect much, considered the very low price. Then it arrived, and I opened it to find some of the nicest Ike's I have ever seen. I am terrible at grading Ikes, but I gotta think these are pretty high grade. I don't know. You tell me! The only thing I saw wrong was that it had 2-1973 d's. So no 1973 P. I just snatched a few out for quick imaging last night. Some beautiful toning on a lot of the clad bs and proofs. These 3 really stood out to me as high quality. Booming luster, hard strikes and very little contact marks.
Some of you wanted to know how this turned out when it arrived. It arrived today and to my disappointment its complete junk maybe a 62/63 on a good day.
I could see this one graded as a gem but i think the others have too much chatter and marks for high grades. Would have to see them in hand Ikes are funny like that.....
Yeah Matthew, I did shoot them to show luster on purpose. You know how it is...In hand there is no chatter to be seen. I really have no idea what to expect.
It can see the hairlines in the fields not being much of a problem but what concerns me is if you take a closer look at Ikes cheek you can see the where it has some marks either contact marks or just general annealing marks i cant really tell. Its common for Ikes to have those marks and be in a 65 holder not so much when you start considering a 66, personally if it were me I would enjoy it as being a PQ uncirculated Ike because PCGS values a 65 at $50 not worth the risk...
I can agree on that for sure. The only reason I would send any of them in is because of the toning. The 73 I posted, and about 4 other clad's, one being a proof, from the album. But I think we both know I will never send them in lol.
They are still some nice Ike's. I do agree with your comments about toning, but it would need to be some really rich golden tones, or rainbow for me to consider sending it in. I have a target toned silver proof that I'm going to send in as soon as I get a few more to round out a good submission.
This is what came my pics make it look hairy but its not that bad in hand, no 65 but still uncirculated......
An unfortunate spot but what does everyone think of the color.. Dealer photos. I've bought from this dealer before and the toners he has are accurate color wise.
the photo looks a bit juiced. i am thinking that it will not be as vibrant in hand. still a nice looking coin :thumb:
Perhaps, but everything I've purchased from this seller before has been good. Guess we shall see, I like it and the price was super.
Wow check out this ike for sale i bet there are not many like it, if its not unique...... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eisenhower-...38?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item257ab42b2e
