I found another 2012 quarter with a identical line coming out of the third limb of this tree next to the lighthouse roof line. The first photo is new coin and the second the old,has anyone come across the same thing? Error 2.jpg Obverse 1.jpg

I know that lighthouse very well. It's in Bass Harbor and it's a great place to walk around.

I have new macro shots from different angles it appears to show some sort of conflict with the lighthouse roof line. Err1 A.jpg Err1 B.jpg Err1 C.jpg Err1 D.jpg Err1 E.jpg

Yes, it is a great place to visit but I like the view they put on the 1998 Plat. Proof better.

Looks like a well-placed die crack to my eyes.

These are 3 different quarters could there be something in the design to make a die crack occur in the exact same spot on these 3 coins?

If it is indeed a die crack (which I am unsure if it is), then the 3 coins probably came from the same die.

Cracks don't move around on a die, they just get bigger.

I think what you are saying is that if the crack is from the same die that it would be in the exact spot but the die crack appearance could be longer shorter or wider.

Yuuuuup! Except it would never get shorter.

it looks like there is a line between the lighthouse and the roof also

The way he phrased that, I'd say it could be. If he found a coin from a later die state first, then a coin from an earlier die state, then the crack would be shorter, as it had progressed less at that point.

I think you're talking about a second line above the lighthouse,i put a red line on it. Err1 C.jpg
