So I am lucky enough to have received $250 dollars on something that I thought was not going to pay off. This is let's call it bonus money I want to buy something different and unique. What would you buy as far as coins, silver, gold or platinum if you had an extra $250 in your pocket?

Isn't there a coin you wish you had 100 times over but at the time didn't want to fork out the money? Well, nows a good time. I can't suggest something other than that.

I suggest using it for roll searching/strap searching until you come across something you know for a fact is worth the $250 to you. Keeps you busy, the money isn't burning a hole in your pocket in that it would need to be exchanged (most likely) prior to a purchase. This will result in you weighing the effort involved against your desire for whatever it is that catches your eye.

That or buying a quantity of wheats or "junk" silver to search if you find a good deal would be the way I'd go. (Silver obviously easier to flip fast for cash in the event you find something you cannot live without.) Depending on your area, this may not be worth the trouble involved. Don't ask us Tater, buy something that really appeals to you. I would personally buy a counterstamp that Steve Hayden is presently offering on eBay... a Philadelphia issue of the silversmith Thomas Whartenby. I'm sure that I'm the only one on CT that would do so. But that's my point, buy what you like.

I plan on buying what I like, just brain storming to see if their is anything else out there that I might be over looking. I can always get me a nice peace dollar, or washington quarter or buffalo, but those are sets that I'm working on and would plan on getting them anyway.

If I had an extra $250 to spend on a single coin I'd be doing some eBay hunting. There's always a deal to be found. Just got to know where to look.

If you can't find something to get right now, just keep the money until you do find something, you don't have to spend it right away.

On second thought, I'd buy as many SBSS silver coins and flip them on eBay. $10+ profit on each coin.

Not much in the way of US gold can be had for $250. Maybe a 1853 gold dollar or a tenth oz. AGE.
