    ahahaha ... yah, I must admit that wasn't our finest hour!!

    Even worse, because my wife is a Boston Bruins fan!! ... so we sat together on the couch and watched every game of the Stanley Cup finals ... after losing in Game 7 => I immediately went outside and torched her truck!!

    Bedford => I love your George VI bust from India (I do not own any coins from India)

    ... I find it very cool that there were different busts for each Ruler, depending upon each of the countries in the Commonwealth (Canada, Australia, England, India, etc ... man, there were even different Victoria busts for New Brunswick and Newfoundland!!) ... very, very cool

    => again => awesome coin(s)!!

    Got this handful of foreign coins and one WWII medal at a local farm auction.
    I paid $7.00 for them--Not fancy by any means, but very interesting. foreign coins.jpg

    Here's a few recent acquisitions--a Norway 2 Skilling from 1811. I like this coin series because of the handwork on the dies and the varieties. These coins were crude because of a sea blockade against Copenhagen prevented better minting equipment and tools being shipped to the Kongsberg mint. This particular coin is on the heavy side--8.9gr and despite a few dings, it has nice details. The long scratches are actually marks present on the flan before striking. From what I've read, the larger mintmark is scarcer.

    Here's another from 1810. I like this one because of the symbols flanking the "2 Skilling" aren't seen as often as others.

    Here are a few types of symbols seen on these coins:

    I undertood. Looked it up. The largest coin issued by the UK at 41 mm and 62 g. That is huge.

    Steve--very nice details on that coin! That's got to be one of the larger ancients ever made.
    Imagine carrying that coin around in your pocket--it's over 2.5X the weight of a Morgan $1.
    Also interesting how the US minted NDL coins during the war.

    Today I snagged a few but these two were unexpected aquisitions.

    Mine is not a NEWP. Your coin is nice.

    Your coin is much better condition than mine. Here is a photo depicting my coin anyway:

    An observation, note the D in F.D. It looks different than other specimens I have seen. Blunt end.
