Radoc5, please consider what you have to gain by doing this. This forum can not make any difference in the long run, it is between you and the company. Yes, it might garner support from those who favor your side, and maybe bring forth comments on its interpretation, but it may cause more problems for you in the future with no actual gains or settlement of values in dispute. I would not do it without asking my lawyer if I knew I was going to go to legal means to settle. Just IMO. Jim
Truly wise advice Radoc in many ways. Legally you could be forever impuning your claim by publishing something, which is what posting a private letter to a forum would be. Pragmatically, you attract more flies with honey than vinegar. I have had disagreements with people, and am much more willing to settle amicably with a well reasoned person than with someone who is going out of his way to bad mouth me. Remember one of our nations founding phrases, "Millions for defense, not a penny for tribute". Sometimes, even in business, it can come down to this if the person believes you have "waged war" against him, and he needs to win to prove you wrong. We truly are trying to help you in this dispute Radoc5. Chris
I've read this thread and others on the issue and I can validate the concern about this dealer based on first hand experience. I rarely take the time to post a comment like this, but I hope to help others avoid the problems I've had in January. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT do business with Gaithersburg Coin Exchange. The folks I dealt with there lied to me, cheated me and then spoke to me like I was dirt. I wouldn't bother to take the time to post this if it weren't so. There are other reputable dealers in the DC area that you can work with, for sure. Caveat emptor!!
This is old news, and there is no need to clog up the "Recent Threads" with all of these old threads. Once is enough! Chris
I'd go beyond Chris's statement. A new poster shows up here, and his first EIGHT posts are resurrecting old threads to trash-talk a specific dealer. Etiquette issues aside (how about lurking in the forum a bit before spamming your post across eight threads?), it makes me suspicious of the poster's actual motive, and makes me a lot less likely to give much weight to his complaint.
Yeah. You can hire a lawyer on a contingent fee basis, usually 33%, to file a claim for you. I guess it depends on how much money is at stake. If you sent in 50K worth of gold and got 25K back, 25K is still on the table and should should be able to recover. If you are talking about sending in 1000 and they sent back 500, then it wouldn't be worth it.
I'm deleting this post because I'm tired of hearing the whining and complaining. Get a life guys. Conspiracy theories? Name calling? Really, guys?
If you were taken by GCE, you could have helped yourself by arming yourself with a little knowledge beforehand. I don't appreciate you inundating the forums with ALL of these old threads. You're not doing us any favors. Chris
I'd probably call it spamming. You have just joined and at this point you have made 10 posts and every post has been in a two to four year old post complaining about Gaithersburg Coins that you have dug up. You wouldn't be posting to these threads unless you specifically went looking for this topic. You might have found one by happenstance, but this comes across as a deliberate vendetta.
We had something like 9 new members sign up yesterday and you all happened to know eachother. And by the threads you dig up I will say you guys are spammers.
Your situation is an unfortunate one but there is just as much fault on your part as theirs. One should never send gold and silver to someone they don't know. Always sell your precious metals in person. You didn't even have a way to prove what was sent to GCE. This is a lesson learned. Never trust anyone you don't know and be skeptical of those you do.
Well, that sure explains it. Seriously... I sometimes think that if I had a dollar for every time in my life I've dealt with some idiot who thought they knew it all, I could have retired long ago. This is not to say that what you are telling us is untrue, but you have to realize that there are so many people out there who choose believe what they want to and not what is reality. So do tell... how did they lie to and cheat you? Oh, and please explain how you are qualified to make this determination.
His post count has decreased considerably since this morning. Someone's working clean-up (thanks!)...
There is another post from 2011 that I just tagged with an alert. I think some people just like to see their name in print. Either that or they have no skills when it comes to researching a date on a post.
