This is the first elongated penny I've seen here on CT. This is one of the first things I started collecting way back when...I have a bunch of them. Are there any threads about them? How are they commonly referred to on here? Are they even discussed on coin collecting boards?
Sure are. Smashed penny's is much collectible to many folks. I've got a few myself but you really should check out this site....numissociety.com.........folks there are most passionate indeed. Did ya see 'Snooky' dwhiz?
You can search the term "elongated" and you will find several previous CT threads. Also, the more broad term of "exonumia" applies to elongated coins. Here is an interesting thread at CT: http://www.cointalk.com/t203005/
That is a rather large elephant building you posted. Not quite as large as the elephant building in Bangcock: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...&qpvt=elephant+building+in+bangkock&FORM=IGRE Here is a Belgian Congo 2F elephant coin.
Hey did you walk along the beach and pick up any Cape May diamonds? I did that many many years ago and then turn them in a rock smoothing machine to make them nice and shiny.
I try to avoid New Jersey as much as possible. Worst road systems I've ever seen anywhere on earth. Mexico has better traffic control! Guy
I have to agree with that statement... it was OK when I was a kid, but the state went and got itself overpopulated and failed to upgrade the roads. Especially in the northern section; at least here in the southern portion I can still get around.
I hate to comment on NJ roads (but there are much worse road systems in the World). BTW, some places in NJ are absolutely beautiful. Other NJ places are not so nice. :rollling: One time I had a friend in the passenger seat of my car while we drove in NJ. She told me to "stop using my turn indicator". She said "it just gives away your move". She was serious. In NJ you simply need to drive aggressively, don't use your turn indicator, use the jug-handles for left turns, and avoid the pot-holes. It's not that difficult.
Lucy is in Margate just outside AC, it was so cold & windy only a work crew cleaning up and my gf & I were there
Then you must never have been to Pennsylvania. The Schuylkill Expressway has to be the worst main thoroughfare of any major city in the United States. It was maxed over 20 years ago. I live less than 1 mile away from Lucy in Ventnor which is the first town South of AC. Hope you had fun in my neck of the woods.
