For the Presidential Dollar coins, I'm just not convinced the mintage numbers are making a big difference right now. All of these Presidential Dollars before 2012 were minted in large quantities and widely distributed to banks. In fact, many are being stored in vaults presumably in case we do away with the paper dollar some day. But you would think that the ones where 300 million were minted would be less valued that the ones where only 80 million were minted. Only time will tell because these have just not been big on collector's minds.

Now I do know that the latest PROOFS have been somewhat scarce as the Presidential Proof coins for 2012 have sold out at the Mint while the 2011 ones were still available. Because of this, the price of the 2012 Proof coins (set of 4) is somewhat higher than the previous ones, at least on eBay.

I know they are claiming they have done it and are selling the end product to some, but personally I have problems with the very concept of a proof coin made from zinc. How cheesy is that?

I didn't know they sent the 2012 Presidential Dollar coins to the banks. I thought the BU rolls ended with Garfield and from Arthur onward you had to buy the P & D rolls from the Mint for $32.95 for a 25 coin roll.
