Well according to his CU posts #1 AU cleaned #2 AU55 #3 no word ,but does it really matter #4 code 91 NO grade (AT)
Thanks for everyone who has patiently waited. I cannot yet announce a winner, because I am waiting on PCGS to regrade the morgan dollar.
Detecto threw the red challenge flag and now we are waiting for the booth review results. My guess is that the ruling on the field will stand!
He got them back posted in the I'm back I guess thread. Well he posted 2 of them anyhow. Barber au55 Morgan AT
For those that wanted the OP to give his own, expected grades, he doesn't know 'numbers'. As quoted from another forum in a GTG, 'I don't know the number, but......' You HAVE be able to learn to grade on your own, and to assign a 'number' (might start to want using 'grade') to a coin if you don't want to see submissions like this one.
Did you request a review because of the "severe neck damage"? Must be since we already know..... Seriously though, being as this was your first ever submission, consider any losses to be tuition and at least try to learn something from the experience. Good luck with the review.
Update: Coin 1: 1834 Bust Dime. Au details cleaned. Coin 2: 1908 Barber Dime. Au-55. Coin 3: 1831 Bust Dime. VG-10 Coin 4: 1887 Morgan Dollar. Unc Details Quest. Color. No one got all 4 right. ddoomm2 wins a mixed bag of wheat cents, he was the 1st person to guess 1 grade right. No one got more than 1 right, so 1 prize was awarded. However, being the fun guy I am, I will give 1 silver dime to the 1st person who answers this question. What is the mintage of the 1797 gold quarter eagle?
Just new to the hobby but lets give it a try, using the ANA grading standards book as a guide 1. MS-60 2. AU-59 3. F-12 4. MS-64
Thanks for posting the grades, Detecto. I've learned a lot from this thread. Thanks also for the interesting question, Detecto. The mintage of the 1797 Gold Quarter Eagle is anywhere between 427 and 585. [Danreuther and Bass believe the mintage may be as high as 585.]
You aren't good enough at grading yourself, but don't mind throwing close to $200 for someone to tell you what it grades? Then you question the TPG about a grade, when you can't grade yourself? Using the 'I always wanted to submit' isn't good enough.....if you want to collect, you HAVE to learn to grade on your own. Asking everyone what your coins grades are is NOT going to help you, and you WILL throw a bunch of $$ out the window.
