Hello all, Yesterday I ordered about 300 1 gram silver coins and I was wondering if it would be bad for the coins to put them all in one plastic bad when I get them, or should I keep them all in sepeerate bags, they are all in brand new condition , thanks Ivan
It depends on the kind of coins they are and if you want to preserve them for the future. If you ordered 300, I'm guessing you ordered junk coins? Or some other type to just invest in silver? In that case I wouldn't be bothered if they get damaged; the metal content would be the same
As long as the plastic you are planning on keeping them is non-PVC, you only have to worry if you don't want the coins to get scratched or dinged up. Touching each other will not harm the silver content, but if they are loose and they rub up against each other you will eventually see damage to them. If you're just keeping as bullion, then probably not a worry but if you want to preserve the condition, then you should store them separately.
It sounds like you ordered privately minted tokens instead of coins if they each weigh only one gram. These should be fine stored in bulk, but I imagine the premium to buy them was rather high.
only if one is anti-silver. for god sakes man, dont let silver touch anti-silver. it will be the end of us all!
It would depend on 2 factors. 1. Are the coins pure bullion ??? If so there is no problem. However, if the coins are say .50 to .90 fine; dissimilar metals corrosion can occur over time. Never store silver against a base metal for long periods of time. 2. Are the coins uncirculated or valuable ??? If so you may want to protect each coin from impact damage , use airtites.
Do they make airtites for 1 gram rounds? LOL I can imagine dropping one of those airtite tops on the carpet would be like trying to find your contact lens!
Storing them all together should be fine. Just out of curiosity, how much did you spend for approximately three troy ounces of silver?
