So I'm sitting here looking for bargains to pop up on BIN, and I see this: Complete 18-Coin 1909 Mint Set #1 PCGS Registry Barber Lincoln Indian MS65 MS66 "Hey, wait a second", I think to myself, "I know somebody who's got a 1909 set..." Heh. Meanwhile, I'm continuing to look for bargains in my price range...
I'm a little more concerned about how they are all the same diameter. That sure is one dreamy error set!
Well they will be displayed at the Long Beach coin show in a couple weeks..Table#448 For those of you close enough to get to So Cal it is even more amazing in person.
I agree, selling your collection out of necessity is not fun. Let's hope I find a job before I have to sell my Jefferson Nickels.
Since I will be attending the long beach I will take a gander at that awsome set. I also get to meet a few of you guys!
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I decided to list my 1909 set for sale for a few reasons. Though I doubt a buyer will just hit the Buy it Now button and take it from me, I figured having the coins up on eBay would be a good way to show off the set and may also drive some traffic to my other eBay listings. But most of all, I've pretty much taken this set as far as I want to go. I have had the set complete for a few years now and have enjoyed it quite a bit. But I think that I enjoyed building the set a bit more than I've enjoyed storing it in my safe deposit box. I've upgraded the coins in the set as high as I'm willing to upgrade. I do not need to sell the set and I'm thankful for that. But liquidating the set would allow me to pursue other collecting interests without a doubt. I listed my 1908-S Indian Head Grading Set up on eBay recently for similar reasons. In any case, I know that actually selling either set will not be easy to do. Finally, as Jay mentioned, the set will be on display at our table at the Long Beach Show (Table #448). Please stop by and check it out if you're going to be at the show, and of course there's a forum member discount if you want to take it home with you Mike
illini420 I am going to send you a box of Kleenex if you sell that set. You will either be weeping for your loss or weeping for joy, but either way you will be weeping for the loss of Your Baby. One of the nicest sets I've ever seen. But then, I'm sorta partial to 1909 myself. Best Regards, :hail: George
