Is that considered a cud or a die gouge above the second T in state? I call it my assassination penny for obvious reasons. 1999 Assassination Penny.jpg

You mean the 2nd "T" in TRUST, don't you?

No, that is not a cud. A cud is a break along the edge of the die that extends into the field.

I think he means the divot above Lincoln's eye. (I wish posters would clue us in as to exactly where their supposed errors are.) It is hard to tell from the photo but it looks to me like either PMD or zinc rot, not a die chip. (It cannot be a cud because it does not include the rim.)

No, what he thought was a cud is a small mark above the 2nd "T" in TRUST. It could be a die chip, but the photo is too small for me to tell.

My bad. My reading and comprehension skills had a momentary lapse. The "Assassination penny" descriptor made me focus on the hole in Lincoln's head.

And the hole is a clue that it's probably another corrosion bubble by the T.

I thought someone else would want it but no one was interested.

I should think not. I don't even think it is worth anything.
