I would definetely try to get halves. They have the best shot at getting silver.

    I can't get halves with out ordering a box of $500 I don't have $500 I'm 15 so I'm lucky that I have $45 any other good ideas

With such a limited budget I would focus on getting cents and nickels. With that said, if you have trusting family members who are wealthy you may want to ask if they can front you the money so you can buy higher volume. The way it would work is they lend you the money (say $500-$1000), you buy the coins, go through them and after you redeem them you give back the money. Volume is key with coin roll hunting but to do it you need capital.

I'm only 14, but my parents don't mind me just switching bills for coins (plus I only use my money :)). If your parents don't mind, just ask them if you can borrow some of their money. Within that budget, it depends what your after. I agree with NOS, either pennies or nickels. Pennies produce loads of copper, as well as some wheats. Nickels produce many pre-1960 and a few war, buff, or v nickels if your lucky. It really just depends on what you like and collect.

It boils down to what you want to do.
I like copper pennies and working on my Lincoln penny set, so I usually get pennies first. I usually get 15-20% coppers and might fill a spot in my book.
I also stack ASEs and junk 90% coinage. I fiddle around with CRHing dimes but never seem to get anything. I would go after more silver, but my credit union makes it out to be criminal getting boxes of dimes or halves. So I get that stuff whenever I can.

If I were you youngsters parent I wouldn't mind you going around and switching bills for coins to search - there are really more nefarious things you could be doing. I was lucky that I had my grandmother that figured coins were my way of staying out of trouble so she patiently hauled me around to coin shop haunts, coin shows and of course banks.

In essence, it is an addiction I would be inclined to fan instead of extinguish.

What he said. Nickels produce the most finds for the buck. You CAN find silver, you CAN find V's, Buffers and even rare dates like the '38-S, '38-D and '39-D and I have found all but the '50-D. Oldest nickel I have found is an 1890, rarest a '15-D.

Pre-60 nickels are considered older and they generally have a premium on them.

Should I get loomis rolls or customer rolls??

I suggest trying your luck at customer rolls. They tend to have better results.

Like previously mentioned, it depends what you like. They both produce ~ equal results, so it depends if you want copper and wheats (pennies) or silver, buff, v nickels, or pre-60 collectables (nickels).
