    Hello everyone,

I found this today in my change. There is a mark to the right of the date, it is a solid piece of the coin and protrudes outward from the coin. Anyone have any guesses?

    Thanks,

    The opposite of raised.

No it is not, it is raised off of the coin, almost as high as the rim of the coin

If it was incuse I would think struck through. Not sure what it is if it is raised.

Maybe I am just seeing things, but it looks like part of the rim that has been galled off. I looks like there is a crescent shaped notch in the rim below it. If so, that would make it PMD.

You are correct, that crescent shaped notch is also raised off of the coin, however it is not as prominent

You are missing what I am saying. It is that gall that you are seeing over the coin.

    lamination.

and it is a cent, not a penny-- which is a British coin

looks like a bit of metal has been shaved off the rim and is still attached.

This is not the case, it is attached solidly to the coin. I have tried to move it thinking the same thing but was unable to.
