Have any of you CRH's found any Barber halves, quarters, or dimes recently? I was just wondering what the possibility of finding one in a box or CWR would be... I do not have any of these in my collection and would love to add them. Just need to know whether to purchase them or try to find one of each
I very seldom roll search but many others here do. Probably someone has found a Barber here and there. Myself, I'm pretty serious about grabbing Barber dimes, quarters and halves from my favorite coin shops and shows. I hunt through the silver junk boxes for G4, full rim pieces. Usually am able to get them for melt or near melt. Often find VG's for the same price. Seems to me to be a great deal right now.:yes:
If you've only found 3 total in the amount you search I might as well go buy one of each. lol. Its such a good feeling when you find something for the first time and you dont have it in your collection.
Yeah, it is.. and yeah, you should just buy 'em. Do yourself a favor, though, save up a bit and get nicer VF examples, you won't regret it.
FadeToBlack is right. If you only want one of each denomination to add to your collection, a better grade example is what you would probably be happier with. I mentioned the Full Rim Good 4's, because I am just putting them in 2x2's and holding on to them. I think perhaps each time silver makes a good jump in price, alot of these "junk" silver coins are being sent off to be melted for the silver. One dealer told me he didn't have any because he did just that. Said he got tired of them sitting around collecting dust and in the way.
I've pulled a VF barber or two out of melt buckets, but they're few and far between, and were dimes. Nicest Barber quarter I've found for melt was a F12 or so, half was a VG8.
