I live in central KY and having looked around there does not seem to be any major coin shows around here. SO, how bout this for an idea. planning a vacation with the wife and all of a sudden there happens to be a nice major show in the vicinity at the same time! :devil:what a coincidence! any suggestions? thanks folks -Walter
Just tell your wife you are going to get a drink at the bar, slip away, get in the car, and drive to the coin show. Love it.
Tell her the truth. If you happened to come back with $1000 worth of coins, you would have some explaining to do. Just tell her you're going to a coin show nearby and give her $500 to go shopping. Chris
The first thing you want to do is serenade her with gifts and compliments. Then tell her how you want to go to a coin show while she goes shopping with your money. But its best to be honest with her.
she wouldn't really have a problem with a coin show. she does find some interesting. just doubt she would be up for 500 mile trip with coin show as the reasoning. would like to find a larger one near a beach, or national parks for hiking nearby. the angle really was not to deceive actually. for example what shows would one suggest focusing on attending? then one could figure out a music festival, etc to corrdinate it with
It depends because locations change all the time depending on what show it is. There's a few that are always in the same town/city, but some are not. But just about all the major shows will have something the family could do in the area. It also depends on how far you can travel. There's major shows near Chicago, St. Louis, and Baltimore every year. Long Beach (Cal.) is held every 3 months (or is it 4 months), and FUN (FL) is held twice a year. All of those have tons of things to do nearby. And there are any number of smaller shows being held virtually every week of the year at some place in the country. You just have to pick the ones you want to go to.
Yeah, I remember going to the beach one year and discovering that there happened to be a coin show right down the street the same weekend. In the couple of years since, that's had some influence on our vacation planning. (Not much, though, to be honest -- it's a really dinky show.)
I did convince my wife that we should travel to Toronto for the Torex Show, but had to buy tickets to see "Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages - first row seats were a rather decent bribe.
thanks for the input. chicago eh? double trouble if the cubs were in town at that same time as well! -walter[ QUOTE=GDJMSP;1620579]It depends because locations change all the time depending on what show it is. I've tried this with no luck at all as the wives at coin shows are usually accompanied by their husbands, but then, you never know. Maybe he'd get lucky?
I've never been to a show - Baltimore will be my first. My wife is actually excited about going. We'll see how long it lasts...
i am very happy with my wife. in fact if it were her or the coins i suppose i would have no coins at all.
Yeah, it was just a joke. If I had to choose between my wife and coin collecting, I'd choose my wife!
