Here's an update on what is planned so far. They don't do much for me, but maybe somebody will appreciate them.

    2013 -- Girl Scouts
5-Star Generals (Bradley, McArthur, Eisenhower, etc.)

    2014 -- Civil Rights Act

    2015 -- U. S. Marshals Service

I think that is all that is planned as of now.

The 5-Star Generals is the one I'm interested in so far....

I think this set of commems will be something refreshing, I was getting tired of the same old armed forces/veteran inspired pieces that went on for a few years.

Agreed, I would have thought that since Eisenhower was you know also a president that he would at least have his own coin or be featured on a gold offering. Could have been something that many Ike collectors would have added to their collection I would imagine. If not a new coin imagine a simply reduced sized gold Ike that would have been cool to me anyways. I guess that the mint thought he'd have enough gold when he comes up on a presidential dollar.
Embedded the coins so people can see them without clicking the links first one is gold.

Eisenhower already had a dollar and another one coming up in the Presidential series. Guess they felt like giving someone else a chance.

I like the obverse devices in general, but the reverses seem lazy.

Baseball HOF will be in my sights. Doing well with my baseball related collection, the gold Robinson is a while out of grasp.:dismay:

Sorry to say but for the most of us, the only thing we know about Girl Scouts are that a couple of times a year they sell those infernal cookies in a subtle way to expand Americans waistlines. Perhaps they should put a box of cookies on the coin too.

I have to think that half dollar is going to be a poor seller.

The 2011 Army uncirculated half dollar set a new low for commemorative halfs. And that one had more general appeal than this coin which has two generals who have both been retired since the 1950s.

That's what I was thinking! They should give buyers a box of cookies.

Don't forget the proposed 2015 Pan Pac commems. Have they been approved?

The girl scouts have a pretty strong presence in our community - they do a lot of crafts, games, service work etc.

But the reverse of that coin reminds of, I don't know - 60's Soviet modernism or something. Blah.

Yep, not only the circulating dollars, but also the 1990 commem dollar.
