This purchase has a bit of odd circumstances to it. I happened across one of these medals on eBay listed by a seller from France. He had a BIN of 230 Euros, but there was no "Make Offer". I sent him an e-mail asking if he would accept $200 USD. A few days went by without any word from him, and in the interim, another of the same medal was listed by yet another seller from France. The second one was listed with a BIN of $189 USD and was just as nice as the first. I didn't want to make an offer on the second until I had at least heard from the first seller. When he finally responded, he said that the least he could accept was 200 Euros, so I went ahead and made an offer of $150 USD for the second medal. The seller responded immediately and agreed to the purchase price. As a result, in just a matter of days, I saved myself as much as $150. It goes to show that just because a seller has a listing with a BIN doesn't mean that you necessarily have to pay that price. Everything is negotiable.

By the way, folks, it was Brandon who gave me the heads-up on both of these medals. I edited the thread in another forum to acknowledge his help, but I forgot to edit a couple of others, including this one.

    Thanks, Brandon!

That's a fantastic medal. Have you ever thought of building a website devoted to your medals? It would be one of my favorite places to check out cool art.

I have waited for a couple coins with pretty fair BIN prices to end without selling and was then able to get them for about 20% under what they were listed for.

It never hurts to ask for a lower price.

btw thats a really nice looking medal

Thanks, Tom! Unfortunately, all of my medals would have to be reimaged. Some have never even been photographed. Thinking about taking images of 1000+ medals gives me a headache. LOL!

PS. FWIW, 6 of my MACO medals are at NGC right now, and 5 of the 6 will have to go into the oversized holders at $25 a pop. LOL!

Yes, I used to use that strategy in the past, and sometimes it can backfire because someone else buys it or makes a better offer. I prefer to make an outright offer immediately and not take the chance.
