I have begun to appreciate Foreign coins, to go along with my U.S. collection. I found these at an antique mall junk bin. All were price from .25 cent to 1.50. I dont know anything about foreign coins yet, but I thought these looked cool. 1851 Kreuzer Austria 1870 Spanish 1902 Belgium 1926 Phillipines Centavo 1961 Austria Schilling
Nice selection. Btw, i was thinking the same thing as you guys. All i could think of was Seinfeld, " Not that there is anything wrong with that......"
Nice coins, especially the Belgian one, and practically free at those prices. Once you go world you never go back
Ah AC/DC, well everyone is entitled to their choices. j/k Great looking coins, I especially like the Philippines and the Belgium.
In all seriousness OP, I believe you will find your attitude to US coins changing slightly. I collected US coins only for about 15 years. Then I found some ancients, were swayed by their beauty, and started to collect them. After a while, I started buying what would be considered world coins, (since there is no difference between "ancient" and "world" except an arbitrary date). After buying some world coins I liked, and still collecting ancients, my view towards US coins was altered. Now, US coins to me are no different than Cuba, Russia, Thailand, etc. Its just another country's coins, they are not "special" like I used to think them to be. In that light, I still believe there are great, worthwhile US coins, and I do still occasionally buy them. I thing early commemoratives, and things like CBH's are terrific values for the most part, but things like 20th century "keys" look more and more ridiculous. I was just warning you that most likely your outlook on US coins will probably start to change. Not saying its good or bad, (though I would say good if I had to choose), just saying it will gradually change most likely. Chris
I've been chewing on the idea of a Canadian Large Cent album. It seems most of the dates are readily available and far less expensive than their US counterparts.
Beautiful 3 Kreuzer. I believe you will come to quite enjoy the world of world coins. France is my favorite, though I have coins from a ton of other countries as well. There are a lot of coins out there. So many coins, so little time.
