They look slanted to me but i dont know enough about this series. I just picked it up because the price seemed fair. Paid $25 out the door and to me its at least a VG-8 maybe as high as a F-12, so id call it somewhere in the middle and say about 10 i guess. Book value is saying between $40 and $55. so i think i did well.
Certainly not a new item to anyone, but I purchased these because of a possible 70's grade on both. The specks you see are on the capsules. That's why many appear doubled in the photographs. I was at the FUN Convention last week and saw these and said, why not.
Decided to get some Ike's for my two little girls. Let them each keep the one they happened to open. The 71 has really nice gold tone on the front and back that isn't really too visible in my photos.
the girl picked this up today for her set shes putting together. its dark, thats dust on it, and i just could not get a good photo of it. it does have some nice details
and i got this for me it was priced fair and i've never owned a draped quarter 1805. story has it that it was found metal detecting at an old school in greenville, sc
Went to the Wilmington DE Coin Clubs Annual Show today, nice show. If you go tomorrow it's on the north side of 13 next to Hooters. I picked this up for my Dansco
This isn't new, but I haven't posted it yet. 71-P is a difficult date for strong strikes, and this is one of my best, not to mention the nice color. Might go 65 if it were submitted. It's much better than all its cousins in the same roll...
Another one from this past christmas. This brings me down to only 4 for this particular empress I need left for my set. Lucilla (164 - 183 A.D.) AR Denarius O: LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F, Draped bust right. R: Venus, Venus standing left, holding apple and sceptre. Rome 18mm 3.36g RIC 784
You guys are getting some nice coins. I haven't bought any coins this year but I looking at a few from Heritage (Long Beach). Maybe, just maybe, if I'm lucky I'll get to post one soon....:kewl:
Top of the morning to you Larry! I saw this beauty this morning and about fell out of my chair, bombastic colors on that example!
I have read many times over my 45+ years of collecting that Barber designs are either flat, boring or uninspiring. WRONG! Your 1902 quarter certainly turns those descriptions on their heads. I particularly like the very sharp proof strike! An absolutely beautiful proof.
