I am looking to subscribe to a couple coin magazines and wanted to know your opinion which are best. I signed up for Coin World so far, but I thought their digital edition was able to be viewed on my iPad under newstand, but it appears they use a stand alone digital viewer for their digital editions. I was thinking about Coins Magazine and Numismatic News magazine. Ipad digital editions a plus but the old fashion paper magazines are also ok.
I have been getting Coin World by US mail weekly and like it. Also I belong to the ANA and get the monthly Numismatist in the mail. It seems to be enough material for me to keep up with the big stories and current trends.
I only subscribe to Coin World, but I'll pick up a Coins magazine when I see one at my local news stand. I also get the EAC quarterly magazine, Penny Wise.
I too am a CoinWorld subscriber. It's perfect, I read each magazine front to back multiple times until the next one arrives.
I get my Grandfathers subscription scraps unfortunately. Numismatic News Coast2Coast Coins Coin World Maybe some random publications he has laying around
Not magazines per se, but publications nonetheless. Esylum Digest E-Gobrecht Barber Coin Collector's Journal Liberty Seated Collector's Club Journal
First, are interested in domestic coins, or world coins? If, domestic then I would get a subscription of Numismatic News for domestic coins. If interested in domestic currency, then Bank Note Reporter would be helpful. For all others, Coin World is good. If interested in variety of coins, then go for the books, "Cherrypickers Guide". There are about five of six editions, all on American coins. All of these are retail prices. For wholsale prices go for the gray sheets on American coins and bullion coins. For all types of American currency, then the green sheets are good, except for "Stars Notes", for all small size notes. They will have the replacement values on "MPC" notes. I hope this will help.
I breeze through a pile of 20 year old "Coins" magazines now and then but I am well aware that those prices were out of line. They are actually getting a bit more realistic now that a coupe decades has passed. LOL
I don't. More and better information available online, IMO. Some of the collecting association journals are very good. EAC and LSCC come to mind.
I get: Numismatic News World Coin News The Celator ONS newsletter The Numismatist ANS Esylum I have been thinking of a couple more, we will see.
Agreed, though that would be cool. I like the paper because I can read them at work where I don't have personal internet access nor wi-fi, or usually cell service for that matter. Paper goes everywhere.
I recently subscribed to Coin World, and I should be getting my first subscription soon. Hope it's good!
Coin World is good. Really like it. Also like Coinage. Coins magazine has too much price guide, not enough articles IMO.
