Silver hasn't been at $40 since 2011. 6-7 months ago, it was around $28.

Circulated common date Morgan. Looks EF to me, and possibly the victim of a harsh cleaning. Nothing extraordinary.

I'm trying to see if any of my pictures ended up in Dropbox. I'll do my best to get them uploaded If I can find them. I'll have a free week at home in march, so hopefully I can get pictures of everything.

Morgancoin, THIS is what a nice common date Morgan looks like:

Thanks for the picture. Nothing in my collection is as nice as that, and most of the coins are polished, with the exception for a few 1921 morgan dollars. Also, I accidently put in 6-7 months ago. I think it was in April of last year. It's been so long since I went to visit the dealer. Sorry for the confusion, but wasn't silver about $28 right about that time? I have an 1885 O morgan dollar, and a silver dollar that could possibly have a "ghost" 7 as someone called it, but both are polished.

I would recommend posting pics... There has to be some reason a dealer would offer so much... 7/6 maybe?

Here's the 1887 Morgan with what appears to be a faded 7 to the right side of the date.

I don't see anything in that picture that indicates that it's the over date.

What is the date of the one that someone said has a "Ghost 7"?

That was my first thought, too, but it isn't.

Hopefully this is a better picture of the date.

I've tried to zoom in as close as I can. Perhaps it's just the lighting.

You are right. That picture does not show evidence of being the overdate.

Here is a pretty clear one, with the ghost pretty visible:
