I don't know if it's the lighting quality, or what, but it appears that the island of Guam on the quarter is doubled. Is this true, or is it just the lighting? I know, I know, I'm still stuck with my Ipod, so sorry for the quality.

Are machine doublings an error on the coin, or does it just mint it that way and it's normal for them to be released like this?

Machine doubling occurs during striking. The dies were most likely loose, and as they struck the coin, they shifted slightly, kind of "skipping off" the coin. Although it could be considered an error, it is not worth s premium... for the record, I count machine doubling as a type of mint-made damage.
