OK, the TDC obverse -- a rotting zombie, wearing a "Sound as a Dollar" t-shirt. On the reverse, the dragon that devoured us, plus the legend, "Like One Trillion Dollars" Watch for the rumored die variety, "Quadrillion" struck over "Trillion"
And where does that money come from? Some of it is probably created out of nothing, and the rest by selling more bonds. The problem is in order to do so they have to sell more bonds than what they are redeeming and total debt grows. SO they are going even further into debt to pay off the debt they already have. It's like paying off one credit card with another one. Do you know what the REAL problem is with a one trillion dollar coin is? Our presses can strike 750 coins a minute, and if one coin is good, why stop at one? Strike one and pay off the defict. Strike two and we have an extra trillion dollars we can spend. Strike three and we have two trillion more dollars to spend etc. Strike 16 and pay off the debt! And believe me there will be some people in Congress who will think just that way.
Freshly minted in Germany! Platinum plated copper piece! Only €10! (Right, a company in Bavaria actually sells these patterns now. Image from their website, see link. (Note that the description says "1 Billion", which is what we use in German for that amount, but the piece does say "One Trillion".) Christian
The Federal Reserve should just print off one of these notes and pay off our national debt in full. We wold even have a bit over 83 Trillion Dollars left over to re-fund Social Security and Medicare. Problem solved!
Cool design I want one! How do you buy them? It appears to me that you have to live in Germany to get one.
Tried ordering a few, but they have a "one per order" limit. Also, they would like buyers to start some kind of subscription. Nah, thanks. Christian
First the Fed doesn't print currency. Second under the law as it is currently the paper currency has no value until it is PURCHASED by the Fed. So a trillion or hundred trillion dollar note would have no value because the Fed would not buy it. Coins on the other hand have their seiniorage (sp) created and deposited into the general fund as soon as they are struck. That's why they propose a trillion dollar coin instead of a trillion dollar note.
