These coins, a 1968 S Kennedy Half proof, and 1964 quarter proof are in my collection, and I would like to know reasonably what they would be worth. Any thoughts?
The half looks like it may have had some handling, but it could just be the pics. If it's not been handled at all, then that cameo is going to add some value. This is still a date where they won't all be CAM or DCAM. I have a few that have zero cameo, and those would be worth melt, or maybe a tiny bit more. I'm pretty sure that quarter is a common proof.
Hard to tell from those pics whether that half dollar is impaired or not. But if it isn't, I'd be happy unloading it on eBay for about $10. It's a proof, and it appears to have decent cameo, and junk silver forty-percenters routinely sell for over melt: 5.25 to 5.75.
Kind of a broad statement. On ebay, prices seem to be all over the board. But I still feel it's safe to say that a cameo 1968 half will have a premium over the many without the cameo. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Proof-Sets-/41109/i.html?_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=1968+proof+set+cameo
I'm sure that this half wasn't in a proof set. It came as a single coin in the collection I inherited. What makes you think that it was part of a proof set?
Because proof coins are sold by the mint in sets. It's the collector who breaks them out to sell individually.
